Today I made the page in itself! Wohoo! I literally know NOTHING about html and css, and it's kinda confusing, but whatev. I learned how to make subpages, that's how I put this entry inside discoverings :P.
I'm kinda dumb, I looked at folders and thought "is that what I'm looking for? Or is it just for organizing files like pictures?" and ofc it was for this. I wanna add some sort of emojis, but I'm on the free plan and I don't wanna fill the 1GB of storage they offer with junk, wait, now that I think about it, how many pics of my drawings will I be able to upload to here?? and with what resolution? I know you can display pics using a base64 converter, but it's only really viable with small sized pixelart, a 2k pic would be a zillion LINES long, it would make my code look horrible (not like it looks particularly nice even for the simple things I'm doing anyway). Now I understand why sites like toyhouse, FA and DA are so popular \(-.-), image hosting on your own website and traffic is annoying!!
Anyway, I've also been looking into google fonts, there are some nice font families, but it's pretty limited, since from my understanding it's bound by what your browser itself can interpret (I've seen some examples, and librewolf, my browser, is basically bare bones, the way I like it). Google fonts allows you to display some pretty fancy letters regardless of browser and that's what I want. I pasted google's example on a test page and it works fine, I'll see what I do with this, I still need to work out some sort page style on css (I feel so lazy just thinking about this), and *shudders* choose a framework.......
Wait, can I use the system emojis? Lemme check:
nvm, it doesn't work, I'll check in a sec how to make that work, that way I won't have to code any custom emojis into the website B)
I just learned that, even when you write a margin between paragraphs inside a paragraph object (? is it called that? I've got no idea), it, infact, does not create a margin. So I looked it up, and I can use line breaks with the <br>
thingie, but to change margin size and stuff I have to edit the css ToT, coding websites is such a pain in the ass
I learned how to link stuff, make words italic and bold and both at the same time
I was testing the links and turns out that I was linking the testing page with the font completely wrong? It was trying to reference a file that was inside the discoverings folder, but of course there is no testing page inside discoverings! I finally fixed it, I found the solution in a stackoverflow question, I'm really becoming a skid am I... T-T
Turns out that code will still do it's thing even when it's between <code>
thingies?? What's even the point of the object if it won't do it's thing? I had to replace the < and > with "& l t ;" and "& g t ;" because otherwise it wouldn't work, learned it from looking at Loren's website's code cuz otherwise I would have no idea, w3 wasn't much help, because they used normal words instead of funcitons/objects, making websites is annoyinggg
I changed the margins!! Wohoo!! I tried changing it through the css, but it didn't really work, do I need to make a css file inside of the folder? Sounds annoying
Do I really need to make a css file? I know it's really useful for making custom classes, but I'm so lazy ToT, I really don't wanna
Also forgot to mention that I learned how to display tildes, since I wrote the name Björk on the index page, works the same way as when displaying the < > of an object/function between the <code>
class now that I think about it
I got google fonts to work!! and I can even nest them, I just wasn't able to do it through the css file, but it's okay, it's on the testing page
I also got emojis 😺 working, idk why the page didn't save?? I had this written already, idk what happened
I made some back links on the top left corner and made them a fancy different color, but the goddamn f*cking background won't center, I'm gonna break my keyboard >:(
Oh and I also fixed margin issues when loading up on mobile by calling the @media thingie, I got that from a stackoverflow question
I just made the back links a nice round font, might change it later though, I don't think I'm very convinced
Cleaned up the page code a bit so that I can collapse the paragraphs, that way the code isn't so spaghetti-ee anymore. Dang, it's soo much better now
Turns out that as long as an object is nested inside of another one, the class of the parent object will apply to the nested one. How did I learn this? It's cuz I tried putting the font class and the color class both inside the back links, but the console kept nagging me about double classes, tried stuff around, got even more errors than before, and finally deleted the font class to check, since it was already declared in the parent object. Well, it worked!! It looks teal and round, like I want it to be
This will be my last entry of the day, it's 23:54, and while I'm not gonna go sleep just yet, I don't feel like using my brain anymore and fighting the bugs my dookie code creates, goodnite ðŸ¦ðŸ‘‹
